Róbert Ótott received a delegation from the People's Republic of China
Vice President of the Provincial Government, Provincial Secretary Róbert Ótott received today a delegation of the Ethnic Affairs Committee of the PRC’s National People's Congress, led by President Bayin Chaolu. On the occasion, Mr Ótott informed the delegation about the position and rights of national minorities - national communities in the territory of AP Vojvodina.
"Our country appreciates and respects diversity, and a real example of that is the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina, where 27 ethnic communities live harmoniously together." The Republic of Serbia has one of the best legal frameworks that regulates the rights of national minorities, starting with the Constitution of the Republic of Serbia, all the way to its laws that specifically regulate individual minority rights, such as the official use of languages and scripts and education in minority languages." - said Róbert Ótott, Vice-President of the Provincial Government, Provincial Secretary.
The meeting was also attended by the delegation of the Provincial Secretariat for Regional Development, Interregional Cooperation and Local Self-Government, which presented the most important projects that are being implemented in cooperation between our two countries.
"In the territory of AP Vojvodina, significant infrastructure capital projects are underway, such as the Fruškogorski Corridor, the Belgrade-Budapest high-speed railway, the Belgrade-Zrenjanin-Novi Sad motorway, and the "Smile of Vojvodina" expressway, which are being realised by Chinese companies. Thirteen companies from the People's Republic of China operate in our province, ten of which are active and employ more than two thousand workers. The total investments of these companies have so far exceeded one billion euros." - pointed out Assistant Provincial Secretary Vidosava Enderić.
The goals of the meeting were to strengthen cooperation and friendship between the two countries, as well as to deepen existing relations and open new opportunities for future joint projects.
"We are very grateful for your hospitality and we are very glad to have the opportunity to discuss these important issues with partners who are an example of the successful functioning of a multi-ethnic and multicultural society." Vojvodina has a key role in Serbia, not only because of its strategic position, but also because of the harmonious coexistence of many different ethnic communities, which represents a true model of cooperation and tolerance." - said the leader of the delegation, Bayin Chaolu.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Provincial Secretary for Regional Development, Interregional Cooperation and Local Self-Government Goran Nikolić and Undersecretary of the Provincial Secretariat for Education, Regulations, Administration and National Minorities - National Communities Zsuzsanna Mackó.
