Statement by the Provincial Secretariat for Education, Regulations, Administration and National Minorities – National Communities regarding insults against persons belonging to the Romanian national community
The Provincial Secretariat for Education, Regulations, Administration and National Minorities – National Communities strongly condemns hate speech and insults on ethnic grounds, which were made on social networks against persons belonging to the Romanian national minority – national community.
We hereby call on all actors of public life to respect the Constitution and laws of the Republic of Serbia, the minority rights of citizens of the Republic of Serbia and to refrain from making inappropriate statements in public, the consequences of which may be unforeseeable for interethnic relations.
We also point out the importance of mutual respect, appreciation and encouragement of diversity between members of all national communities, which are deeply embedded in the foundations of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina, as well as the fostering of centuries-old good-neighborly relations between the Republic of Serbia and neighboring countries.
The Secretariat advocates for the preservation and promotion of the values of peaceful coexistence, interculturalism, mutual respect and trust in the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina and urges all actors of public life to promote them, for the benefit of all citizens of the Republic of Serbia.
